UAE ANNOUNCES ACCIDENT-FREE DAY ON FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL YEAR

Good news for UAE Motorists”… as the UAE government is rewarding drivers who follow traffic rules on the first day back at school this month.

As part of the accident-free day campaign, the motorists are invited to sign a pledge through an online portal, committing to safe driving practices. Those who register and comply with the safety guidelines before August 25 will receive a deduction of four traffic points from their records, effective electronically on September 15, 2025, without the need to visit service centres.

Motorists can clear 4 black traffic points by signing up for a “traffic safety pledge”.
Here is the full pledge

  • I will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of me.
  • I will yield to pedestrians at crossings.
  • I will always wear my seatbelt.
  • I will adhere to the speed limits.
  • I will not use a handheld mobile phone while driving.
  • I will give way to emergency vehicles, police, public service vehicles, and official convoys.

Motorists can apply for this service through MOI official website by Log in through UAE pass.
1: Log in To MOI website by UAE Pass
2: Click on the smart services.
3: Click on the option of “Initiative of a day Without an Accident” and registered yourself to this compaign.

More than 300,000 drivers signed up for the nationwide scheme last year.

What are black points?

Black points are penalties given to drivers for serious breaches of traffic regulations.

The number of points given depends on the severity offence.

If a driver receives 24 black points in the space of 12 months, their licence is suspended. The length of the suspension is decided based on the severity of the rule breaches.

There are 143 federal traffic laws in the country with varying penalties including fines, black points, vehicle confiscation and licence suspension.

If your car is impounded, there are additional Dh100 a day fees to release it.
