Working hours for the month of Ramadan announced

The UAE has announced the official working hours for the month of Ramadan this year for public sector.

The holy month of Ramadan is expected to start on Saturday April 2, but the final date has yet to be confirmed. The final date will be determined by the sighting of the crescent moon.

Accordingly, they will work from 9am-2.30pm from Monday-Thursday, and from 9am-12pm on Fridays.

Federal departments will be permitted to implement flexible and remote working practices on Fridays.

To avail of the remote working option, they must obtain approvals from their supervisor, the director of the department and also the human resources department within their organisation.
A maximum of 40 % of government employees of each entity will be allowed to work remotely on Fridays.

Details for the private sector have yet to be announced.
