DARB TOLL SYSTEM: FINES YOU MUST BE AWARE OF

If you have not registered your vehicle yet with DARB toll system, it is advisable to do so immediately, motorists will face fines for unregistered vehicles as well as other violations.

All About DARB TOLL SYSTEM Registration:

  • You can register through the website www.darb.itc.gov.ae or use the Darb app for smartphones.
  • Registration fee per vehicle costs Dh100 per vehicle, of which Dh50 will be kept as a balance in the user’s account.
  • Vehicles will be charged AED 4 for toll gate crossing the toll gate during peak times from Saturday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and in the evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • The maximum ceiling for daily toll fees per vehicles is AED 16
  • No fees will be calculated outside peak times, Fridays and public holidays.
  • Payments will be made through an electronic wallet linked to the vehicle’s number plate.
  • The maximum monthly toll will be capped at AED 200 for the first vehicle, AED 150 for the second vehicle, and AED 100 for each additional vehicle.
  • The toll fees for commercial vehicles will be similar, with no cap on daily usage or monthly fees.
  • Senior citizens, retired citizens, families with limited incomes, citizens, and people of determination are exempted from paying the toll. Those categories need to visit the Darb website, register in the system, and apply for exemption requests by specifying the type of exemption and attaching the necessary documents.

Penalties – Starting from AED 100 to AED 10,000 :

  • A penalty of AED 100 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the first time when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle.
  • A penalty of AED 200 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the second time when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle
  • A penalty of AED 400 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for any passes after the second pass when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle.
  • Drivers who do not have sufficient balance will pay a fine of AED 50.
  • A fine of AED 10,000 will be handed out to those caught tampering with the vehicle’s licence plate to evade the toll fee, or to those who damage the electronic payment devices or toll gates.
