DUBAI AND SHARJAH HAVE REVISED TAXI FARES AS FUEL PRICES RISES IN UAE
UAE has recently announced a raise in the petrol and diesel prices for the month of July i.e Super 98 petrol is AED 4.63 per litre, up from AED 4.15 a litre in June; while Special 95 is now AED 4.52/ litre, as compared to AED 4.03/ litre last month. E-91 is AED 4.44, from AED 3.96/ litre in June, while diesel is now AED 4.76/ litre, up from AED 4.14/ litre the previous month.
With increase in fuel and diesel prices in UAE, Dubai and Sharjah have announced an increase in taxi fares.
DUBAI
In Dubai, the per km charge has been increased by approximately 20 fils , i.e from AED 1.99/km to AED 2.21/km, while the base fare remains unchanged at AED 12.
BUSES AND DUBAI METRO
Fares on other public transport modes in Dubai will remain the same despite the rise in fuel prices.
SHARJAH
In Sharjah, the minimum fare has increased from AED 13.50 to AED 17.50. A Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) call centre agent said the fare starts at AED 7, with a per-km rate of AED 1.62. The minimum amount to be paid at the end of a trip is AED 17.50.
CAREEM AND UBER
Careem and Uber taxi fares have been raised from AED 1.98 to 2.19 per km. Uber will hike charges of selected rides by nearly 11%.
