UAE Eid Al Adha 2026: Expected Dates Announced by Experts
Astronomers have indicated that Eid Al Adha in the UAE is likely to begin on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, based on early scientific calculations.
According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, the crescent moon that signals the start of Dhu Al Hijjah is expected to form on Sunday, May 17 at 12:01 AM (UAE time). On the same evening, the moon is predicted to remain visible for about 58 minutes after sunset, positioned roughly 10 degrees above the horizon, which could allow it to be seen under clear conditions.
Based on these projections, Monday, May 18 is anticipated to mark the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah in the Islamic calendar. Following this timeline, Arafat Day would fall on Tuesday, May 26, with Eid Al Adha celebrations commencing the next day, Wednesday, May 27.
Experts have emphasized that while these dates are grounded in astronomical data, the final confirmation will depend on the official moon-sighting announcements by UAE authorities.
Stay tuned for official updates as the date approaches.
